Frequently Asked Questions

1. How can I register my child in the club?

All players can register by:

1.  obtaining a blank registration for form from this web site or City Hall and mailing it to Sarnia Boys' Soccer with a cheque for the appropriate amount.

2. receiving a filled out registration form through the mail.  Sign and mail to Sarnia Boys' Soccer with a cheque for the appropriate amount.

2. What is the Club's refund policy?

 There is no refund after the uniform has been handed out.   A refund fee of  $20 applies to cover registration charges by O. S. A. when a refund is given.

3. What does the player receive?

           All players will receive 1 full uniform and team picture.

4. When does the season start?

  Competitive players begin play in mid May.

All other players begin play by the first of June.

5. Can I have my child play with _________?  

We try to accommodate special requests, however we have a balancing process that takes precedence. We make every effort to have all teams competitive within a division.

6. What equipment do I need to purchase?

The club supplies socks, shorts, and shirt. You are required to supply soccer cleats and shin guards.

7. What is my son's practice/game schedule?

Game nights are scheduled by age groups.  Check "Schedule" on the left pane for proposed playing nights. 
All practices are scheduled by the coaching staff, therefore they will inform you.

8 When will I hear from my coach?

           During the first two weeks of May.
 
9 How long are the games?

Check the times as outlined in the Rules and Regulations section in the Constitution.

10. What time do the games start?

           House League game start at 6:30 PM

11. What happens if it rains?

The game of soccer is played in the rain, however, all fields are cleared in the event of lightning.  The coaches/referee will make the decision to end the game.

12. Tell me about our refs?

Our referees are typically the youth of the Sarnia Boys' Soccer club.   We look at our Referee Program as a “Leadership-in-Training program” developing the youth of our club.  They receive a 2-day extensive training session prior to taking to the field and will participate in refreshers part way through the season.

13. Are our coaches trained?

All our first time coaches attend a coaching clinic training course before the season begins. 

14. What equipment does my child need to play the game?

They MUST have soccer shoes and shin guards.  They will not be allowed on the field without shin guards.  It is for the safety of our players.

15. Where can I direct concerns/issues?

As a parent, there are a number of ways you can direct your various concerns:
– coaching issues/parenting issues can be relayed to your division convenor (This name should be communicated during the first meeting with your coach.  It is also available under the District section on the left pane.)
– club issues or unresolved  issues can be directed to the Sarnia Boys' Soccer Club. 

16. What is the all-star program?

Our all-star program or select program is an extension of our house league program.  It is populated from our pool of house league players who have demonstrated a talent and interest in soccer.  This commitment is in addition to the house league season.  It typically consists of an additional practice each week as well as weekend tournaments throughout the season.  In order to remain in good standing in the all-star program, players MUST continue their commitment to their house league team.

17. How can I volunteer for coaching or managing a team?

All volunteers are welcomed.  Sarnia Boys' Soccer Club is run by a volunteer group.  It  encourages parents of players to get involved early in the their child's career.  There are many things with which the organization needs help.

18. How can I become a sponsor?

Obtain a form from the club Sponsorship Director.  She will help with any problem.  Again we encourage all parents to contribute to their child's development through soccer.
